When tourists take the ferry to Staten Island, they seldom make it past St. George, a neighborhood named not for a dragon-slayer, but for its eponymous developer: George Law. For better or for worse, this is where most S.I. outsiders end their voyage, which means knowing the right spots is all the more essential. Here is Barchive’s guide to the area’s favorite watering holes.

1. Jimmie Steiny’s Pub
Address: 3 Hyatt Street Staten Island, NY 10301

A massively popular saloon-style neighborhood bar that also caters to both out of borough visitors and locals alike. It’s only one block away from the Staten Island Ferry, boasts budget friendly drinks and pub food, making the appeal obvious. Karaoke night is every Thursday and they even have a internet jukebox for all of your singing desires. Plus you can get a rare Coors Light pint for 3 bucks so game on.

2. 120 Bay Cafe

Hip little spot right by the ferry, with art pieces flowing throughout the bar from local painter Scott Lobaido. Happy hour includes $5 appetizers and $2 pints. This bar has been around 100 years but the space is still tasteful and in considerably good looking shape. Locals usually flood here weekly for the live bands, karaoke options, and the billiards tables that make this bar a festive way to spend an evening in Staten Island.

3. Craft House

A welcoming rustic gastropub/brewery/bar with an interior that has character and a friendly staff that actually smiles at you while taking your order. Craft House serves a plethora of appetizing dinner/dessert options like BBQ brisket and red velvet ice cream sandwiches. This is one of the more exemplary venues in Staten Island, so hang loose, grab a brew and text your friends about how much you dislike your boss at the moment. Plenty of beer options that even include some rare cider selections.

4. Flagship Brewery
Address : 40 Minthorne Street Staten Island, NY 10301
Hours: Mon-Closed Tues-Wed 2pm-10pm Thurs-Sat 12am-12am Sun-12pm-8pm

A spacious brewery setup with picnic tables and a glass wall showcasing their scenic brewing area. The beers on tap rotate frequently but you are sure to have your palette satisfied with the exclusive, locally sourced options. There is more than plenty of seating, too, if you wanted to bring a big group of your friends to play the giant Jenga. Even better, they allow outside food, so grab an old fashioned Staten island style pizza at Tony;s Original Pizza down the block.

5. Pier 76
Address : 76 Bay Street Staten Island, NY 10301
Hours: 11am-10pm everyday

Its a bird, its a plane…no its a bar, a pizzeria and a cafe in one! A downtown S.I pizza spot with a full bar attached is a sure fire way to eat, drink & merry all at once. Offers classic beer favorites and an ample amount of liquor choices. Pizza, calzones, baked ziti balances well with their draft beer and Pier 76 is literally a 5 minute walk from the S.I ferry for your convenience This is the place to go before the party starts because you can load of up on carbs and while drinking pre-festivity brews.
