For the hardened Manhattanite, Staten Island is already considerably cheaper. But it always nice to spend even less. These are Barchive’s favorite dives on Staten Island.

1. Mother Pug’s Saloon
Address : 1371 Forest Avenue Staten Island, NY 10302
Hours: Mon-Thurs 12am-2am Fri-Sat 12am-4am Sun 12am-2am

Known for the hardcore, metal, and punk bands that roll through on a regular basis,Mother Pug’s serves drinks in plastic cups along. There is a jukebox, billiards table and outdoor patio that is great for congregating with the locals. Burlesque shows are also a thing here so be prepared for that  and don’t be surprised if the DJ plays Hall & Oates as you to decide whether you want a second red cup jack and coke (hint: you do).

2. Griff’s Place
Address : 704 New Dorp Lane Staten Island, NY 10306
Hours: 8am-4am Everyday

Friendly neighborhood bar in a quiet area known for their steak, burgers and budget friendly beer prices. Offers arcade games and t.v’s in case you want to check out a sports game or two. This is more of a restaurant that has dive bar qualities to it along with options to grab a juicy steak with a Long Island iced tea even though you are clearly on Staten Island. Apparently the bar staff here are very amicable so be ready to talk up a storm while debating with the locals on which one is better Bud Light or Miller (Griff’s serves both by the way). Pro tip: they have Quick Draw lotto connected to the bar in case you are feeling lucky.

3. Rosebank Tavern
Address : 1258 Bay Street Staten Island, NY 10305
Hours: 11am to 2am Everyday

Old school pub that hosts open mic nights and live jazz regularly. Wide selection of draft beers that supports local breweries. This spot has had the same building since 1921 and is decorated with football, baseball, rugby memorabilia. Enjoy $3 pilsners and $5 well drinks. Thursdays after 9pm the jazz bands takeover the ambiance. Order the cheeseburger and beware that they switch an ordinary hamburger bun for an english muffin!
